Moving on with Persistent Pain

Join us for an informative and supportive workshop designed for:

  • People who have pain that has persisted longer than three months
  • People who want to focus on their life rather than their pain
  • People who want to learn skills to better manage their pain
  • People who want to improve their overall quality of life

Topics addressed in this workshop include:

  • Understanding the purpose of pain
  • Learn optimal approaches to physical activity
  • Learn how to use mindfulness techniques to improve your pain experience
  • Learn coping strategies
  • Manage grief and emotional processing
  • Develop better relationships and communication around your needs
  • Learn how to eat healthy while living with pain
  • Learn strategies to improve your sleep while living with pain

Each workshop includes a short movement break, led through exercises designed to promote health, improve mobility and enhance quality of life.

Workshop Format:

Adults (18+)
8-week sessions, 2 hours in length – offered in-person or virtually via Zoom

How do you get into the workshop?

  • You can be referred by your RDPCN primary care provider or,
  • If your primary care provider is part of the RDPCN you can self-refer by calling 403.314.3297.
  • If you are already seeing a RDPCN Nurse, Psychologist, Mental Health Counsellor, Recreation Therapist or Pharmacist, you can ask them about a referral.

Participant Manual:

You will be required to purchase a participant manual for $20, available at the RDPCN Primary Care Clinic. A free pdf version is also available online. If the fee for the participant manual creates a barrier for you to attend, speak with a staff member when you arrive for your workshop.

Your Commitment:

To get the most value from this workshop, we encourage you to attend each session and actively practice the skills you learn each week. Participants who make the course a priority, set personal goals, and stay motivated to practice daily typically experience the greatest benefits.
