Red Deer Primary Care Network (RDPCN)
RDPCN is a partnership between local primary care providers (family doctors and nurse practitioners) and the government agency Primary Care Alberta (PCA). Our Vision is to have a healthy community where all people have access to innovative, comprehensive, appropriate, and continuous care.

Since 2006, RDPCN has enhanced patient care by adding teams of health professionals working with family doctors and nurse practitioners in clinics. We support about 135,000 patients in 20 clinics across Red Deer, Red Deer County, Blackfalds, and Delburne.

Update on Primary Care Networks (PCNs)
The Government of Alberta is changing how primary care is organized across the province. Alberta’s 39 physician-led Primary Care Networks (PCNs), created about 20 years ago in partnership with local health regions, will transition into 7 Regional Primary Health Care Networks (RPHCNs). These new regional networks will be government corporations. Many details about these changes are still being worked out.

What we do know is that the Red Deer Primary Care Network (RDPCN) will join with four nearby PCNs to form a Central Corridor Regional Primary Health Care Network:

  • Red Deer PCN – City of Red Deer, Red Deer County, Blackfalds, Delburne
  • Wolf Creek PCN – Innisfail, Sylvan Lake, Ponoka, Lacombe, Rimbey
  • Peaks to Prairies PCN – Didsbury, Olds, Sundre
  • Big Country PCN – Kneehill County, Hanna, Coronation, Three Hills, Trochu, Stettler, Drumheller
  • Rocky Mountain House PCN – Rocky Mountain House

What this means for patients:
Patients should not notice changes to the services they receive or the staff providing those services. RDPCN will work closely with the government agency Primary Care Alberta (PCA) and our partner PCNs to support a smooth transition. Our focus remains on providing high-quality care for our patients and our community. We will share updates as more information becomes available.
