Thankful for RDPCN

Sue couldn’t be more thankful for her amazing connection with the Red Deer Primary Care Network.

“My doctor had told me a year before that I was pre-diabetic,” she said. Another year passed, and the doctor diagnosed Sue with Type 2 diabetes.

But there was more bad news.  “I also had high blood pressure and high cholesterol.”

She immediately embarked on learning a whole lot more about her conditions.

“And in all of my research, the Red Deer Primary Care Network kept popping up,” she recalled.

She noticed a program on diabetic management, and although a bit nervous at first, she gave the office a call.

Little did she know the profound and life-changing step she had taken.  “Sharra called me, we made an appointment, and we met at my doctor’s office,” recalled Sue.  There was a strong connection from the get-go.

“She has been nothing but the biggest cheerleader and so informative.  She is straightforward, and she doesn’t sugar coat things either. She tells you where you at, and she’s very careful with her wording. She is absolutely phenomenal. She is one of the heroes of my journey.”

The pair met regularly for a time, and these days, they check in about every six months or so just to make sure Sue is on track.

“We talk on the phone. I just got back my A1C test, and it was 5.5. (A very healthy blood sugar level). It’s like ‘Yes!’

“I couldn’t have done it without the Red Deer Primary Care Network! They are a God-send honestly.”

And there were lots of other health benefits that came her way, too.  I also weighed 245 pounds at the time. Now I weight 152.”

Sharra also encouraged Sue to start getting more active, and they opted to get her into swimming which she has loved.

So it’s been a journey of carefully restoring and building her health on so many fronts, and feeling just a whole lot better. She’s thrilled with the results, happy, and also very confident about her future. These days, she’s considering joining a gym to take her fitness level that much further.

“I recommend the Red Deer Primary Care Network,” she said, reflecting on her story. “Every single time I see a RDPCN post, I’m saying wonderful things about them,” she said. “I also tell people that they may not understand just how much these people can help them,” she explained, adding that getting registered with the program was also super easy and convenient as no physician referral is required either.

“Give them a call!”
