Red Deer PCN Disc Golf Scorecard - Victoria Park

Where are the disc golf courses located?

Victoria Park (along Allan Street):  a 9 hole, 2500 foot course in Central Red Deer. The course is rated at par 28 and par 25 for professionals.
Kentwood (along Kent Street and Kendrew Drive): a 9 hole, 2226 foot course in North Red Deer. The course is rated as par 37.

How do I play?

Disc golf is fun in summer or winter. Each player has a disc that they throw into the baskets using as few throws as possible. A disc can be purchased from a sports store or you can use a Frisbee. Everyone should have their own disc or Frisbee to play.
Use disc golf for a family outing, to challenge friends or co-workers or for events such as children’s birthday parties.

What are the rules?

OBJECT OF THE GAME: is to traverse the course from the beginning to the end in the fewest number of throws of the disc.
TEE OFF throws must be released from behind the designated tee area.
THROWING ORDER starts with the lowest score on the previous hole teeing off first. After the tee off, the player whose lie is farthest from the target throws first.
LIE is the spot where the disc lands. You may mark this spot with a mini disc or any item to ensure the disc is not released past the lie.
FAIRWAY THROWS must be made from the lie. A run-up and follow through is permitted.
UNPLAYABLE LIE is any disc that comes to rest above the ground (in a tree). Relocate the disc to as close as possible to the unplayable lie without damaging vegetation. There is no penalty for relocating the disc. A throw that lands OUT OF BOUNDS must be played from the point where the disc went into the out of bounds area (1 throw penalty).
BE COURTEOUS and do not throw until the players or park users are out of range.
PUTT is made within 10 yards of the target, and a player may not step past the lie when attempting to putt throw.
COMPLETION OF A HOLE is when the disc is in the basket.
The most important rule is to HAVE FUN!

Are there any other ways to try disc golf?

Yes, you have two options:

1. Borrow the disc golf portable targets & discs for hosting an event such as a birthday party, work event or block party. A refundable deposit is required to borrow the portable targets. Call 403-343-9100 to arrange.

2. Request a PCN Coach & portable targets to attend your event . The coach will help people become familiar with the game, review the rules and keep the game moving. This option can be requested for events that:

  • Promote active living in the community

  • Include at least 20 participants

  • Support a non for profit agency/organization

  • Are located in Red Deer, Blackfalds, Penhold or Delburne.

If the event is approved and Red Deer PCN staffing is available, a Primary Care Network coach will bring the portables, set up the portables and instruct participants how to play.
The Red Deer Primary Care Network reserves the right to decline service with minimal notice in inclement weather. Please use the form below for your request. Send your request 4 weeks prior to event, when possible.
