The Red Deer Primary Care Network aims to improve access to primary care, provide coordinate care, increase emphasis on health promotion and disease and injury prevention, and improve coordination and integration of care utilizing the strengths of multidisciplinary teams. The person who thrives in the Red Deer PCN is excited about being part of primary care reform and embraces a patient self management philosophy.

Crisis Intervention Nurse

We require a full-time Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Registered Nurse who will be a member of the Police and Crisis Team (PACT). The PACT is a two person team comprised of a Crisis Intervention Nurse and a RCMP Officer. This team is intended to provide a joint secondary response to incidents involving individuals/families experiencing a mental health, addiction, or psychosocial crisis, especially when danger to the public is present.

The Crisis Intervention Nurse will:

  • Provide a range of services including assessment, crisis intervention, supportive counseling, linkage with appropriate physician, AHS and community based mental health services for ongoing treatment, and follow up.
  • Assist AHS with patients living in the community who have Community Treatment Orders, but have failed to meet their treatment order requirements

Mental Health Counselor

We require full-time or part-time Master's Social Worker or Registered Psychologist with an interest in health and well-being. You should practice using any or all the following frameworks: CBT, Solution Focused Therapy and Positive Psychology and be willing to conduct psycho-educational groups in health and wellness promotion.
The Mental Health Counselor will:
  • Practice in partnership with the patients and their PCN family physician(s), other health care professionals and community agencies.
  • Work independently and see up to five patients a day on clinic days.
  • Have transportation and valid driver's license.
